A Microwave World

Someone has said that we live in a "microwave world." I don't think this means that we cook all our meals in the microwave. Rather, it means that we expect everything to happen right away. We want what we want and we want it now! If you think that this is how it ought to be in the Christian life you are headed for disappointment. God's timing isn't always what we would like it to be, but He is never too late or never too early. His timing is always perfect.

Part of our problem is that we don't have God's perspective. Our knowledge is so limited. We have only a few pieces of the puzzle. And yet we want to tell God what to do!

Isaiah reminds us that God's thoughts and ways are much higher than ours. "For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways," declares the Lord. "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts." (Isaiah 55:8-9)

So, when you think the Christian life out to be like a "microwave world" remember that you don't have the whole picture. Remember that your knowledge and perspective is limited. And trust that God's ways and God's timing is always best.

Pastor Peter Franz

Humble Prayer

Sunday (The Lord's Day) at Grace

9:00 a.m.

"Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy" (Exodus 20:8).

Grace has classes for all ages.
(adults, children and youth)

All are welcome to Grace Free Lutheran Church for our Sunday School Bible instruction classes.

"And we have something more sure, the prophetic word, to which you will do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts, knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone's own interpretation. For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit." (2 Peter 1:19-21).

The Messianic Prophecies

begins February 3rd

The Adult Class in February will be on Biblical Prophesy and taught by Rev. Dave Fruehauf.

Pastor Fruehauf will teach on the record of the inspired prophetic words from the Old Testament which gives details about the Promised Messiah who came to redeem His people Israel. Scholars have identified about 300 Messianic prophecies which comforted and encouraged Israel as they walked in faith. Selected prophecies will be covered and compared to the New Testament fulfillment in the encouragement to the Body of Christ, strengthening faith and giving certain conviction regarding our redemption.

All are welcome to attend this class. The class will meet in the Library.

Come to the Church in the Grove

Christ loved the church and gave himself for it....

Because the Word of God says:"Not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near" (Hebrews 10:25).

Because the Word of God teaches: "Faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ" (Romans 10:17).

Because the Word of God points to our need: "That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we looked upon and have touched with our hands, concerning the word of life" (1 John 1:1).
